MECHANICAL DISPLACEMENT PROVER

A mechanical displacement prover is used for verification and control of metrological performances of flow meters.
Description

PRINCIPLE OF MECHANICAL DISPLACEMENT PROVER OPERATION:

In mechanical displacement provers, a spherical piston carried away by a stream of operating fluid displaces a certain known volume of liquid from a calibrated section of a pipe-and-piston device. The displaced volume of liquid flows through a verified flow transmitter or a checked mechanical displacement prover, and a signal from them is sent to the input of secondary electronic equipment. The number of flow transmitter pulses accumulated during the time required for the spherical piston to go through the calibrated section corresponds to the volume of the calibrated section in the mechanical displacement prover.

COMPOSITION OF MECHANICAL DISPLACEMENT PROVER:

  • Calibrated section;
  • Spherical piston detectors;
  • Motorized positioning valve of a launcher/receiver;
  • Spherical piston;
  • Temperature transmitters and gauges, pressure transmitters an gauges installed on the inlet and outlet pipelines in the mechanical displacement prover.

A mechanical displacement prover includes explosion-proof parts and can be installed in explosion hazardous rooms and in open units which can generate explosive mixtures of vapors and gases with air. Mechanical displacement provers can be manufactured either as mobile or fixed units, and can be installed either in modular containers or in the open air. The calibrated section, alarm devices, temperature transmitters and pressure transmitters shall be lead-sealed to protect them from unauthorized access.
